Motorcycle Safety (aka MSF) In Washington State |
|
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Course (BRC) instructs riders about the basic skills -- mental and physical -- needed to safely ride a motorcycle. This is accomplished through a combination of classroom and on-bike training. In Washington State, the BRC is called the Novice Rider Course; it is designed for the beginning rider, but veteran riders can benefit as well, and consists of approximately six hours in classroom and 9 hours on-bike. Successful completion of both a knowledge and skills test provides the student with a waiver of the Washington state DOL written and riding tests.
Getting in a classI teach for Evergreen Safety Council and Washington Motorcycle Safety Training. Check web sites for class availability. If you can't get into a class as quickly as you'd like, talk to the office about alternative procedures. There are other vendors in the state. See this Washington State DOL list of motorcycle safety training vendors. Safety Resources
