They were with a tour group and "retirement" aged. At an appropriate lull in the conversation, I asked where they were from - Florida panhandle. Me? I live in Seattle but am from south Georgia. When I told them that I was on a motorcycle riding to Omaha in a fundraiser for breast cancer - one of the gentlemen asked, "Do you ride a GoldWing?" This has to be a first - it's usually "do you ride a harley?" They were very southern, very concerned about a woman travelling solo, etc. But very nice. When I came back their way to head to the bike, en masse they followed to take a peak. There are some things about the south that I do miss. I was late entering the park because I was still on Seattle time - had forgotten that Utah was mountain. Actually, all I could remember was that of AZ and UT - one was, and one wasn't. Anyway, by the time I got down towards the "point" - dusk was well upon me. I turned 'round - disappointed that there was only a sliver of a moon. I lost count of the number of deer I saw on that return 13 or so miles. In 2-3s and larger groups. *Smart* aka tame. If one was headed towards the road, when she saw my lights, she'd turn and head back the other way. I still treated them with respect, but none made any move to jump out in front of the bike. Still somewhat sad that I didn't camp there. Next time. Kathy on digest FAIAP postponed
